Repair of cylinders
The repair of single screws cylinders consists of increasing the inner diameter of the cylinder the minimum possible, depending on the wear. In any case, this type of repair increases the nominal diameter of the cylinder, which requires to increase the screw and the necessary complements, too. Another option is the sleeving of some areas of the cylinder, depending on the wear.
The repair of twin parallel cylinders consists of increasing the inner diameter of the holes enough to insert a bimetallic blank with nominal diameter. In fact, we turn an old unusable cylinder into a new bimetallic one, which offers much longer lifetime than an original nitrided barrel due to its own bimetallic technology.
Talleres Pena S.L. is the only company worldwide that offers the possibility to repair conical cylinders, where possible, mounting interchangeable sleeves in different steels depending on the customer needs in terms of corrosion, abrasion, etc.
Repair of screws
The repair of single screws consists of an addition, by welding, on the crest of the screw to bring it back to the original measure or to the measure of the repaired cylinder.
The alloy used on the crest of the screw is the one which fits best the customer needs, depending on the materials to be processed.
The repair of twin parallel screws consists of an addition, by welding, on the crest of the screw to bring it back to the original measure, using the adequate alloy to fully meet the customer needs, depending on the materials to be processed.
Talleres Pena,S.L. does not recommend the repair of twin conical screws due to the way they work and the stresses to which they are subject when used. After repairing, there is considerable potential for fatigue failure. Therefore, we think that it is better to repair a conical cylinder and to assemble new screws.
