Timeline

A journey that began with a passion for precision machining and has evolved into a globally recognised benchmark in the manufacturing of screws and barrels.

1954

The Beginning

At just 17 years old, Juan and Antonio Pena Roca began their careers as machinists producing barrels and screws at Triulzi Hispania. It was there that their passion for precision engineering was born.

1959

The First Step Towards Independence

With a clear vision for the future, the Pena brothers left Triulzi Hispania and founded a new company on Tarragona Street (Sant Adrià de Besòs), together with Esteban Plà, former director of Triulzi. The company initially adopted his name.

1961

The Birth of “Juan y Antonio Pena”

The brothers acquired the shares of their external partner, paying for them over a three-year period. The company was officially renamed Juan y Antonio Pena.

1964

First Major Expansion

The company continued to grow and moved into new premises on Nuestra Señora del Carmen Street (Sant Adrià de Besòs), adopting a new corporate identity: ROCAPE.

1968

Relocation to Badalona

Both companies Juan y Antonio Pena and ROCAPE relocated to Arquímedes Street in Badalona, further consolidating their industrial growth.

1974

Foundation of Talleres Pena S.A.

A new production facility was built alongside the original workshop, and the company was officially incorporated as Talleres Pena S.A. on 11 September 1974. ROCAPE S.A. continued operating alongside the company for several years until its dissolution in the late 1980s.

1979

Innovation from Within

Talleres Pena designed and built its own 5,000 mm nitriding furnace, demonstrating its technical expertise and manufacturing independence.

1989

International Technology

The company installed its first bimetallic centrifugal casting furnace, imported from the United States, significantly expanding both production capacity and technological capabilities.

2009-2011

A New Chapter: Talleres Pena S.L.

New facilities were built in Sant Celoni, allowing production to be reorganised and specialised:

  • Badalona: Screw Manufacturing
  • Sant Celoni: Barrel and Bimetallic Liner Manufacturing

This new industrial structure was formally established under the name Talleres Pena S.L.

2025

Present Day & Global Outlook

Today, Talleres Pena stands as a global reference in the screws and barrels industry, supported by:

  • More than 135 professionals
  • Two manufacturing facilities covering over 6,000 m²
  • Internationally recognised technology and know-how
  • Annual turnover approaching €25 million
  • Presence in more than 35 countries worldwide
  • A leading position in the manufacturing of screws and barrels

All while preserving the family values and entrepreneurial spirit that gave rise to this industrial journey.
